The Silver Krugerrand was introduced by the South African Mint in 2017 with a Premium Uncirculated finish, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Gold Krugerrand series. The Mint expanded the series to include a silver bullion variety in 2018, and it has been an annual release ever since! The Silver Krugerrand is legal tender and carries a face value of one Rand.
This 2021 Krugerrand coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver. 2021 marks the fourth year of issue of the silver bullion variety. The 38.72 mm diameter bullion coin features a superb Brilliant Uncirculated finish. South Africa's Classic Springbok Antelope Imagery
Obverse: The obverse features a left facing portrait of the coin's namesake, Paul Kruger, who was President of the South African Republic from 1883-1900. The inscriptions "SUID-AFRIKA" and "SOUTH AFRICA" curve above the image.
Reverse: An exquisitely detailed image of a springbok antelope dramatically bounding through the African landscape appears on the reverse, a design originally created by award-winning South African sculptor Coert Steynberg for the 1948 South African five shilling coin.
